ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN – UNICON shortlisted for European Commission (EC) funded project on Support to Vocational Education and Training.

The project combines policy development and capacity building in vocational education and training. It involves all levels of the system such as the national policy making level, regional level of development planning, local vocational school level as well as the social partner platforms.

Based on the National Programme for VET Development (NPVETD) 2008-2011 and other related national and donor funded initiatives in the sector, the project will, inter alia, help the government develop the national VET strategy 2012-2020.

The purpose of this project is to support the government's and other competent national bodies' efforts to implement the "State Programme on Technical and Vocational Education Development in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2008-2012" and the "State Programme on the Acceleration of the Industrial-Innovative Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan 2010-2014".

Activities will be split into the following two main components:

• Strategic Development
• VET development in the Regions (Oblasts)
